Coffee discussed by USAID, IPSD and NSCF
NSCF – North Sumatera Coffee Forum will increase its strategic role in order to maintain coffee bean production as well as to increase coffee entrepreneurship in North Sumatera Province Indonesia. Through entrepreneurship, the coffee growers as well as coffee traders and roasters will then have high competitiveness and independecy. The impact will be in form of increasing income and then better liveshood.
However, coffee world must act not only as income generating activities but also as part of earth conservation. Ecoscofas coffee is NSCF’s goal and value. Through advocacy to certain stakeholder and training to coffee growers and coffee entrepreneurs, NSCF has been implementing and will continuously implement the concept of Ecoscofas Coffee.
NSCF has achieved some progress such as Signing MoU with Government. NSCF will increase its achievement. NSCF will stimulate of establishing coffee forum in regencies such Coffee Forum in Karo Regency. NSCF will discuss with the decision maker and scientists as well as other stakeholders such as North Sumatera Research Council. The main task of this Research Council is to propose polilies based on research. NSCF Chairman will present a paper before the Research Council.
It was said by NSCF Chairman Dr. Sabam Malau to Mr. Richard X. Chen and Richard Lindsey Wellons. Mr. Chen is Program Economist at USAID in Jakarta Office, while Mr. Wellons is Consulting Economist at famous and credible International Private Sector Development (IPSD) in New York Office, USA. Both of them said that NSCF’s programs and activities are very interesting. Both of them gave also some good advices to Mr. Malau. The advice was -but not limited to- sustainability of NSCF. The possibility of external, technical and financial support was also discussed.
