"Those facts make us happy, however Indonesian coffee exports must not only in form of raw material (green beans) but also in form of finished goods", he continued. Prof. Ir. Zaenal Bachruddin, MSc, PhD is Director General of Directorate General of Processing and Marketing of Agricutural Product in the Ministry of Agiculture of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Sabam Malau is Chairman of NSCF-North Sumatera Coffee Forum while Bangun Tampubolon is Lecturer of HKBP Nommensen University.
In my opinion, Zaenal Bachruddin is absolutely right seen from perspective of Indonesia. I think -based on my emphirical observation- Indonesia is already on the right track proved by several indicators. I know several aspects must be prepared such as technology and innovation for which Indonesia really has enough and qualified human resources. I also know that Indonesian coffee plants has low productivity which can be overcome by Good Agricultural Practice such as agronomic treatment (organic fertilizer, replanting by new high yielding variety and plant protection etc).
Kind regards,
Dr. Sabam Malau
