Sabam Malau: Why did you joint the Coffee Queen Contest of Indonesia 2011?
Stella Florensia: Coffee Queen Contest of Indonesia 2011 was held to find Ambassador Coffee who can actively involve in encouraging the growth of Indonesian coffee industry, considering that Indonesia is the 3rd biggest of world’s coffee producers. The result is also expected to lead to the development of tourism in Indonesia through coffee industry. I entered the contest because I study Biology, and have 1.5 years of experience as a Regional Tourism Ambassador, as well as was entrusted by the Central Java Government to compete in the contested matters. I was one of two representatives of the Province of Central Java. The competition was so qualified one. The contest materials were not only coffee knowledge but also public speaking, class of beauty, mastery of stage, and self-development. The contestants must deserve to be a true Ambassador Coffee.
Sabam Malau: What was your achievement in the contest?
Stella Florensia: The Jury awarded me as Champion of the category as Princess Coffee Best Personality. I am proud of it.
Sabam Malau: Did you enter other contests?
Stella Florensia: I once took a few college level and regional contests before heading to the national level. Among other contests let me say: I was Champion Favorite in the Princess Campuss Contest 2008 of State University of Semarang; I was the Champion First of the Princeess Kartini Contest 2009 of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science; I was the Champion First of the Semarang City Tourism Ambassador Selection 2010; I belonged to the best of ten of Tourism Ambassador Selection 2010 of Province of Central Java.
Sabam Malau: What do think about Indonesian and North Sumatran Coffee?
Stella Florensia: Nature of Indoensia is very suitable for coffee growing. I am proud of knowing that there are 7 different specialty arabica coffee, and 6 among 7 are produced in Indonesia. Indonesian coffee has very unique characteristics, ranging from taste to the way they are presented. Such characteristics are very important to attract international buyers. North Sumatran Coffee has already been able to penetrate international market. North Sumatran coffee already has an international reputation. Achievements of North Sumatran Coffee are very good, but still need farther development such as to increase number of international buyers amids the increasing market demand on coffee. Not to be neglected are to make a better agricultural practices as well as to improve coffee business chain.
Sabam Malau: We appreciate your availability on this interview. You are the future of coffee. We are proud of you, and wishing you all the best.
Stella Florensia: You are welcome, and I do thank you for the compliments.
