“I got positive impression
of North Sumatran Coffee”, said Kazuhiro Harada to Sabam Malau. Kazuhiro Harada PhD is Associate Professor of Forest Policy and Local Governance at School of Human Science and Environment of University of Hyogo, a very big and famous university in Japan.

They discussed in a very
friendly atmosphere on Thursday 29 September 2011 at Myhotel’s restaurant at
Medan, North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. Gani Silaban, Chairman of Lintong Organic
Coffee Farmers Association (Asosiasi Petani Kopi Lintong Organik), also attended
the discussion.
Kazuhiro Harada explained about
his visit. He visited North Sumatra specially Lintong area of Humbang
Hasundutan Regency in order to research whether Lintong has potential of doing coffee
fair trade. This research result will be then a basic for the next step of his
activity. The entire goal is to make Lintong
as coffee fair trade area. For that purpose, he establish collaboration with Gani
Silaban from Organic Coffee Farmers Association (Asosiasi Petani Kopi Lintong Organik).
Kazuhiro Harada will continue his research next year by conducting in-depth
research in Lintong in which coffee growers will be the respondents.
