“That’s a smart idea”, said my wife Maria Rumondang Sihotang to support Sola’s idea. 
“Thanks Mom for supporting. Daddy, you are Chairman of North Sumatra Coffee Forum, so it’s good to you to drink the most expensive coffee drink in this town, at Starbucks Coffee”, added Sola smiling.

University of Hyogo Japan and NSCF

He is also member of Japanese NGO “People and Green Village”. Dr Sabam Malau is Chairman of NSCF-North Sumatra Coffee Forum as well as lecturer at Agriculture Faculty of University of HKBP Nommensen, Medan, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.

Success Story of USAID AMARTA Project in North Sumatra

“We'll try to include Samosir Regency in the USAID AMARTA II Projectsaid Mr. Sanath K. Reddy, PhD in a workshop. He is Senior Economic Growth Advisor at USAID (United States Agency for International Development). 

The workshop was held by success collaboration of NSCF-North Sumatra Coffee Forum and Samosir Regency Government. The workshop was facilitated by USAID (United States Agency for International Development).

He said in his opening speech that he didn’t promise it, but will try it as long as Samosir Regency can fullfil all criterion needed. He explained that there is strong need to continue AMARTA I Project to AMARTA II Project because AMARTA I was very successful. USAID's  Senior Economic Growth Mr. Sanath K. Reddy, PhD congratulating the Samosir Coffee Forum (SCF). “We will do our best for the sake of better development of Samosir Coffee”,  said Mateus Banjarnahor, the elected chairman of SCF, in front of hundreds of attendees of a coffee workshop.

The workshop was held by successful collaboration of NSCF and Samosir Regency Government. The workshop was facilitated by USAID (United States Agency for International Development).

“Coffee has significant contribution for economic development of Samosir Regency” said Samosir Regency Secretary H. Simarmata on behalf of the Regent.  He continued, Samosir regency has 4,100 ha coffee land and 2,400 ton coffee production, and is very suitable for coffee farming. Amids the progress, Samosir still has serious  problem because of Coffee Berry Borer (CBB) attack that already decreased coffee bean production.  He thanked NSCF for the collaboration. He thanke USAID for the facilitation of the event. He hoped farther collaboration.

Jintamin Saragih SP is the Head of Station (Kebun) Gurgur. The Station Gurgur is a technical implementation wing of Institute for Agricultural Technology (Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian, BPTP) that belongs to Goverment. Ir Sortha Simatupang MS is a scientist of BPTP.
